Disenchantment with gallery

Seven months into the membership in Galeria de Corrales and still no financial report.  There is little or no advertising and no effort to drive visitors to the gallery.  Disappointment is a mild term for the way I feel now.

Debating my next move.  No sales in 7 months.  Hard to believe nothing has appealed to anyone.

I feel that the dies are doing nothing more than paying the mortgage on the building and that the gallery is the owners’ little club house we pay for each month.

Without a financial report I believe that the contract I signed has been voided.

This is a Co-Op in name only.  Co-Op implies we ALL have a say.

Minneapolis image

Had an opportunity to visit Minneapolis on a conference with CDC and a client here in New Mexico.  WHile there I had dinner at Masa restaurant.  This shot was from  the bar area.

Go figure, I was at the bar.  Reminds me of the diner scene from Santa Fe.

Another busy day at the Galeria de Corrales

Finally getting into the swing of managing the Galeria de Corrales on my days there.  The Co-Op is actually fun to sit and interact with the visitors.  Talk art and Corrales and New Mexico.  Quite a few visitors today.

Interested?

Stop by Saturday and Sunday for our weekend hours.

Thanks to everyone who made the gallery opening a fun night

The Galeria de Corrales show on Friday night was a great success and a fun night.  My friend Nina Baldwin did very well.  Much interest in the images.

Thanks everyone and look forward to seeing you all again in two months.

Something for the new gallery hanging

This one was taken at Union Station in Washington DC.  Enjoy the repetition of the tables and chairs

Juried into Galeria de Corrales

Was informed last week that my photos were juried into the Galeria de Corrlaes. This is a funky co-op gallery in Corrales, NM. Very cool.

Something from Vancouver aquarium

Lucked out on this image.  The jellyfish had just come into focus and I caught in time.  The tank was painted blue and the light was supportive of a deep environment.  The fish itself was one of about 100 in the tank.  An image I consider pure luck.

One of the more popular early photos

Shot this image in Florida at Universal Studios in the ’90’s.  Ended up selling four from the series of 5.  Saved one back for my files.  Found the 4X6 inter-negative and made a quick print to scan.  I really like this photo.

Corrales Art SHow a success

The annual Corrales Society of Artists show in November was a huge success for us. The Thanksgiving weekend show brought out some terrific artists to the show and that brought out many folks looking to view art and purchase works. We sold 7 framed images over the weekend. A great weekend and thanks to everyone who visited.

Corrales Holiday Art Fest

This year’s event will be held November 26th, 27th and 28th in Corrales, New Mexico.    Located at the Corrales Rec Center on Corrales Road.  Friday and Saturday from 10 to 5 and Sunday from 10 to 4.  Come out and visit some great artists.  Mention the Taylor Ranch Public Library and receive a 25% discount.

Food or soemthing else?

Either way I am not eating it. I really like warping images.

A new diner shot

New Mexico has too few diners and you really need to look closely for the shot.

Color shots.

A friend here in Albuquerque shoots as well and calls his blog “What my camera sees”. Great title. Wish I had thought of it. I see odd things mostly. My stuff was once called bauhaus industrial photography. I like that better.
This shot was taken on the back deck of the USS Midway in San Diego. I like empty chairs. More emotional than people.

One more gaping maw

I seem to be shooting this type of image lately. Original is in color but then moved to Black and white infrared. Digital photography is too crisp and clean. The BWIR makes them more gritty.

This was shot in SWan Fransisco on the piers.

HP Show entry

Here is the juuried photo. It is a 20″X20″ framed piece. It is labelled as digital art printed on canvas. Price is $400. And it is the second piece in a run of two. Only these prints will be made. Original file will be watermarked. Number one in the series of two resides in Santa Fe.

Photo accepted to juried show

Was informed this morning that “Screamers” was juried into a new show at the Rio Rancho HP Pavillion. Really happy about this. Thanks to the juror.

Zia Arts and Crafts show

Realized today I am selling “digital” art in a show that requires non digital media. How is that meaningful?

Monty Python’s 40th Anniversary

The past two weeks have been terrific with the celebration of the troupe’s 40th anniversary of the television broadcast.  I remember seeing them for the first time in about 1972 on PBS in New Jersey.  Whatever sense of humor I have was seeded with those first broadcasts.  Sirius satellite radio dedicated one channel for two weeks Santa Fe Skulls BWIRto replays of the Python’s skits and movies.  It was terrific to listen in but made one want more of the visual comedy.  The current photo was taken in Santa Fe (NM).  Once I got it back to the monitor it screamed the title for me.

Old Sacramento Escape

A recent trip to Sacramento and San Francisco (CA) made for decent shooting.  I have discovered an interest in fire escapes in Chicago and OldSacTown fire escapethe older structures in Old Sacramento had some great fire escapes.   The shadows and contrast from the metal of the escape with the brick is some great stuff.

Albuquerque Wine Festival

SunDog Photos will be at the Wine Festival at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta Park on May 23-24-25, 2009. COme on out and visit us at the Fiesta and sample the local wines.

Chicago Images

A recent trip to Chicago yielded a couple of interesting images (at least to me).  The first is the gaping maw of the Chicago subway stairs.  There was something ominous about the black depths of the entry.

The second image is of a fire escape on a nearby apartment building.  This one was of interest because of the contrasting patterns, a throw back to some earlier themes of past works.
